We received confirmation late this afternoon that we have a Bye for our first game (9:30 Saturday). Please arrive at the fields by 1:15pm for warmups

Uniform combinations:

Saturday - All White Bring other pieces

Sunday - All Red - bring other pieces

Final game is scheduled for 1:30pm - same venue.

Follow I-75 south from Atlanta. Go outside I-285. Follow I-75 south another 3 to 5 miles. Exit I-75 onto the Highway 19 and

41 exit. (Bear to right, I-75 goes to left).

For McCurry Park, follow Highways 19 & 41, Tara Boulevard, south 4.9 miles (many traffic lights). Note that the

intersection with west-bound Highway 54 is just south of the QuikTrip station. Turn right and go west on Highway 54.

McCurry Park soccer fields are on the left after 5.5 miles of travel on Highway 54. Turn left onto McDonough Road,

McCurry Park South is located west of McDonough Road just past McCurry Park North.

GSA College Camp 2010 May 20/21/22

This registration is open for the GSA College Camp 2011. All players are invited you do not have to play at GSA to attend.

The camp schedule is:

May 21 4.00-7.00pm
May 22 9.30am-12.30pm

The session schedule
Each coach is assigned a team.
Coach runs a 90 minute session of their choice, goals are available.( Try to have finishing as the final 30 minutes)
15 minute break
Teams play approx 60 minute scrimmage
15-20 minute Q & A at the end.

Camp cost $165

Hi All! Hope everyone's High School Soccer season is going well!

The team is now registered for the GA President's Cup May 7-8. Please mark your calendars ( yes it is Mother's Day Weekend). Coach Rick would like to begin practice for all available after Spring Break. We will get those dates out soon. Also - I will send out an announcement regarding training fees. We did play 2 additional tournamants not budgeted in the fall and will need to collect for a month of training and the President's cup.

Hi,

We should know by Tuesday if we have a free pass into the GSA tournament we would be playing in the U15 bracket. At the moment they are looking for a U15 team who would come in and are also up for paying if this does not happen we will be in.

I am adding an extra day of training this week to make up a bit for the rain outs we have had lately so we will be training Monday,Wednesday,and Thursday this week at 6.30 til 8pm. On Monday and Wednesday meet at the concession building and we will find a spot to train. On Thursday we will be in our normal spot.

Ft Lauderdale tournaments.... if you have not replied to the last email please do so, time and rooms are running out.

There is a huge cross country meet taking place on Saturday morning at Scott Hudgens Park.

During the meet, the soccer complex will not be accessible through the main entrance into Scott Hudgens Park. So please use the alternate entrance located near Notre Dame Academy about 0.2 miles down Rivergreen Parkway from the main entrance. There may be a Road Closed sign at the alternate entrance. You may ignore the sign. It was there for / during construction of a new concession stand at the soccer complex.

Lucy and I were thinking to start the season off right, we should have a "team bonding" experience. All the girls are invited to sleep over at our house Saturday night 8/21. We will provide pizza, and will ask you to bring stuff like cups, drinks, chips, ect. as you RSVP! Please let us know by Thursday night, Friday at the latest. Dont forget Practice Tuesday snd Thursday. 6:30-8. Meet outside the conncession stand around 6:25, so we can try and find a place to practice

Coaching fees are due! Please get a check to me for $125 for August fees. Make payable to Dee DeWitt - GSA Soccer Account. Also - if you have not submitted the intial $120 for the Score , AFU tournaments and coaches travel expenses - please include with your August fees.

Mark you calendars for the AFU Friendlies - August 28th and 29th. I will send out the schedule as it becomes available.

As a reminder, the Select Team Camp is mandatory for all Academy/Select players. All players are reminded to drink plenty of water and hydrate properly before the camp sessions. Do not wear new cleats to camp -- break them in before wearing for camp. Players should wear a GSA T-Shirt or light colored T-Shirt for new players. Easy session of camp will end with a scrimmage that will last one hour.

Bring plent of water to drink during training, Gatorade post training and a snack.

We will practice again this Thursday, May 6 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Please be sure to arrive on time for practice to begin on time at 6:30 p.m. Then next week and the following week, we will be on Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:30-8 p.m.

Wear your practice jerseys, black shorts, black socks and have all your equipment, gear, balls and water with you.

Sunday 5/2 at 5pm Brief Meeting and Team Practice

Coach Rick Shaw would like to have a brief meeting from 5-5:15 p.m. on Sunday May 2nd before the girls begin practice. He will be discussing the Super Cup (May 22 & 23), Tryouts (June 8-10) and the Fall 2010 Season.

For those girls who are still involved with High School Soccer Playoffs and unable to practice with the team yet, please plan on attending the brief meeting.

Be sure to have the girls prepared with proper equipment (balls, shinguards, cleats) and water. They will practice for about an hour and a half.

GSA is hosting this very important camp soon and I want to make sure you take advantage of the opportunity. It would be a great for you to get training from some of the best college coaches from the South and for you to get ready for GSA Cup and the summer. Our goal is to get started early this year and to create a formidable team that can get us back to A with more training and experience. I know the club will try its best to support this goal.

Great job by the girls today for the 3-0 and 1-0 wins in the Athens Finale Tournament today. Let's continue good strong play again tomorrow for Sunday mornings game in hopes we make the final at 3:30 p.m.

Also, special thanks to Mallory Sayre for joining our team as a guest player for the tournament. We all appreciate your helping out this weekend.

The point standings in our bracket are as follows:

GSA 95 White = 18 points

YMCA Beat = 11 points

U15 BYSA Lady Galaxy = 9 points

We play YMCA Beat in the morning at 11 a.m. and need to win or tie to continue on to the finals at 3:30 p.m.

Inclement Weather Information from the Tournament Director:

As of Thursday evening, the National Weather Service is forecasting an 80% chance of light rain Saturday with a high of 43 degrees. There is an outside chance of light snow. Tournament officials will be monitoring the situation throughout the day Friday to determine if any changes will need to be made for Saturday. Unless the overnight rain Friday/Saturday makes the fileds "unplayable" or the County closes the fields, it is anticipated that the Tournament will be played as scheduled.

The schedules are out for the Athens Finale Tournament. Our games on Saturday (12/5) are at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m, and on Sunday (12/6) at 8:00 a.m. with the final at 2:00 p.m.

Our games will be played at Holland Park Field #2 on Saturday, and Field #3 on Sunday.

Just so you all are aware and mark this on your calendars when we all return from Thanksgiving holiday. If we are fortunate enough to practice outdoors at GSA, we will practice with the U19 girls team on Monday, Nov. 30th from 8-9:30 and do some mixed scrimmages to help prepare us for the Wednesday night Roswell game and that weekends Athens tournament.

We will practice as well on Tuesday 12/1 at our normal time 8-9:30 p.m.

Sorry for the delay. It just started barely misting about 45 min. ago and I was hoping it would have stopped but NO, now it is actually RAINING again in Lilburn. Very slick for the kids to be running in the parking lot tonight, so NO PRACTICE TONIGHT.

Indoors was an option earlier, but there is no one now at the church for me to contact to pick up a key now.

No Practice tonight (Tuesday 11/10)

Practice tomorrow night (Wednesday 11/11) 8-9:30 p.m. for fitness and conditioning. Either in the Parkview High School parking lot if it is DRY (so this depends on how long it rains tomorrow), or indoors at Harmony Grove gym if it is wet. I'll send out an email tomorrow with "pavement status conditions" (haha).

Practice Thursday night 7:30- 9 p.m. (Thursday 11/12) at GSA. If the fields are closed, we will practice indoors at Harmony Grove UMC gym.

The team website schedule/calendar will be updated in case you forget as well.

All week long, wear your gym shoes and have a pumped ball in your bag.

Lets hope this rain gets out of here fast and this wind moves in to start drying things out...again!

Confirmed Reschedule of CFC Lady Chiefs Game

Finally after two rain outs, this game has been rescheduled to be played on Saturday, November 21st at 10 a.m. However, we will need to play this game on their fields as we do not have home field space available.

I mentioned to several of you yesterday, that we "may" have a game this Friday night. This is the game that I was speaking about therefore, we will not play Friday night. We still have games Saturday (away) against NASA at 11 a.m. and Sunday (home) against West Metro Freedom at 5 p.m.

I'm still working on the rescheduling of the away Roswell game.

To all Parents:

I just wanted to say thank you for your patience and understanding over the last month. I have been coaching here for over 15 years and I have never known of weather like this during a Fall season. All the coaches and team managers have done a fantasic job in rescheduling practices, finding offsite locations and communicating the changes as quickly as possible to you and your daughters. My own teams have trained at many different locations including Lilburn Park and Parkview running track (which was not the girls favorite) but we had to do something. For those who have not been able to go onto GSA, I can tell you the fields are soaked, the water has no where to go and although they look playable most are not walkable. The club has tried to open, but everytime the fields start to dry up the rain has come again. I know most of the teams still have games to make up and reschedule; your coaches and managers are doing their best.

Practice Schedule for this week to make up and get ready for next weekends games:

Monday, Nov. 2 8-9:30 p.m. at GSA (If the fields are closed, we will do fitness training from 6:45 - 8:15 p.m. in the Parkview High School Parking Lot.

Tuesday, Nov. 3 8-9:30 p.m. at GSA (If the fields are closed, we will move indoors at Harmony Grove UMC)

Wednesday, Nov. 4 8-9:30 p.m. at GSA (If the fields are closed, we will move indoors at Harmony Grove UMC)

Friday, Nov. 6 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. at GSA if the complex is open only.

Please bring a pumped ball to each practice and have proper shoes accordingly.

Game Cancelled for Sunday

We have tried all day to secure a field and referees for the game scheduled tomorrow. The CFC team had a turf field a few days ago, but it is no longer available as well as securing referees for us even to play away. Since GSA has since closed their fields, for tomorrow, this is another game that will need to be rescheduled.

I did find out that GYSA has made a decision regarding the regular season to extend it until December 12th due to this constant rain and rescheduling difficulties. This is not just for our club, it is happening all around the Atlanta area.

I will let you know when I can find a date with this game as well as the game today vs. Roswell.

Just got off the phone with the manager from Roswell and they have just now closed Grimes Bridge fields today since it has been raining all morning.

We will reschedule this game - likely to be a weeknight practice night from our conversation, but I will let you know when we agree on a date.

As of now, the Grimes Bridge fields are open, however I'm asked to check back periodically for updates for the day.

One important note is they have a DETOUR to get to the fields. I've attached the file for you to bring along with you along with the other directions again below:

From GA 400: Exit on Holcomb Bridge Road, Exit 7B if traveling North, Exit 7 if traveling South. Go west on Holcomb Bridge Road through 4 lights, approximately 1 mile and turn left onto Grimes Bridge Road (Shell Gas Station and Wachovia Bank on the corner). Go approximately .5 miles and Grimes Bridge Park will be on your right. The fields are located in front of the Adult Recreation Center.

Okay -- hopefully this is the last indoor practice we will have this season, but thankfully we have a place to get conditioning and some practice in!

Tuesday, Oct. 20, we will practice again indoors at Harmony Grove UMC Gym. Same routine as we've had...practice jerseys, gym shoes, etc.

Arrive a few mintues early to begin at 8pm and we will go until 9:30 (our regular times outdoors).

Important Change for End of Season Tournament

We have made a decision to change our end of season tournament and attend the "Athens Finale Tournament" in Athens, GA on December 5 & 6 instead of going to Memphis Nov. 21 & 22.

With all this rain we've been having, we need to be prepared to play our regular season games first, and they must all be completed by November 22nd.

Hopefully we won't have any rain outs and have games to be rescheduled, but the Germantown tournament dates would interfere with finishing the regular season.

Please edit your calendars to reflect this change.

We have an opportunity to get outside to use the GFC Upper Fields (which have lights) tonight located at: 225 Bethesda Church Rd Lawrenceville, GA, 30044

We will practice from 8pm-9:30 p.m. (if we can't get on the fields at 8pm, we may need to go a little later.

Directions and notes:
Located at Ronald Reagan Pkwy. and Bethesda Church Road. Turn Right into the Bethesda Parks & Recreation Center and turn immediately to the right parking area for the upper field locations. These fields are the farthest away from the concession stand if it helps you to figure out where to find them.

Depending on which direction from Ronald Reagan you are coming - Snellville area, turn left onto Bethesda Church Road, Lilburn/Tucker Area, turn right onto Bethesda Church Road. Entrance is your first right!

IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING GSA'S WEEKEND GAMES

As you are all fully aware of the damage to the GSA fields, we will not be hosting this weekends game vs. TopHat (Sat. 9/26). I have contacted them to notify them of our field status closure and from what I hear, their fields are not in good shape either.

We will be rescheduling many games, so please be patient and hopeful that you will be able to accommodate the changes we will be having to make to our schedule.

I will update the event calendar on our team website and email any and all information as soon as I find anything out.

We have made arrangements to practice indoors on Wednesday and Thursday at the Harmony Grove United Methodist Church Activity Center/Gym from 8-10 p.m. Address is: 50 Harmony Grove Road, Lilburn.

Practice Jerseys, Black Shorts, Black Socks.

For Wed & Thurs, both U15s and U19s will practice 8-10 p.m. at Harmony Grove UMC. Please have players arrive 10-15 mins early, so that they can take advantage of the full 2 hrs. The girls need to bring a ball, and wear good, supportive cross-trainers (no fashion sneakers!). The right shoes are important so there are no injuries to ankles or heels.

The two teams will do drills, conditioning and games on Wed night with Edgar. For Thurs, Edgar will see if he can get Robin McGowen to come train them.

Hey all,

With the weather beginning to thunder and lightening here in the Lilburn area, we will not be working on fitness together this evening. Coach Edgar wanted me to remind everyone that during your off days, you should be working on your own doing various fitness and conditioning.

We will meet at GSA tomorrow night (Thurs. 9/17) and begin promptly at 7:20 p.m. We will just try and find some field space to work on until his older girls arrive at 8pm. If when they arrive and have a full field space to practice, we will work with them until 9pm. If they have only partial field space, our girls will work on fitness and conditioning with Edgar's instruction until about 8:20 p.m.

Spirit Wear

A bunch of parents have asked over the last couple of years "how can we purchase GSA Spirit Wear?" It has been difficlut to be able to acquire extra training shirts or GSA apparel for the adults.

Good news, the GSA Phoenix Red 95 Boys (U15 Boys) will be doing a spirit wear fundraiser to raise funds to go with Nuno to Portugal Spring Break of 2011. They will have white GSA tee shirts available for $12, gray long sleeve tee shirts for $18 and Dry Tech Red and Black polo shirts for $35. There will be a slight upcharge for XXL sizes. There will be both adult and youth sizes in the tee shirts and just adult in the polo shirts. You will see a table set up at GSA most Saturdays and probably a couple of training nights.

Please help these boys acheive their goal of going to Portugal while showing the GSA spirit.

Okay -- I'm sorry for the 3 messages that just went out. I was composing the message and my computer went blank and sent my message 3 times in error without me hitting Send.

Practice is CANCELLED tonight!

Tomorrow we WILL practice regardless of the fields being open or not. If the fields are open, we will do our normal practice. If not, we will work on fitness somewhere (possibly Mountian Park Park) so bring your rain gear and running shoes.

Thursday, we will plan on also doing something, but will let everyone know of the time and place tomorrow night. We may have to do it earlier, so please be available if you can.

This Saturday's schedule is as follows:

First Game: 8am on Whitlock Field #11 vs. Westside Eagles. Arrive one hour before game time.

From Atlanta, go south on I-85 to Newnan Exit (# 47)- Hwy. 34 / Bullsboro Drive.

Turn left at the exit red light and go approximately 1.5 miles through 4 red lights (you will pass Wal-Mart on the right, Home Depot shopping center on the left). The fourth red light will be at the Yamaha Manufacturing plant on the left and the fields are visible from the street on the left just after that. The next red light will be at a car dealership on your left and White Oak Professional Center on your right. Turn left at that light between the car dealership and the Quik Trip gas station.

There are two parking lots. The first lot has access to fields 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11.

Just want you to know that GSA has closed their fields again tonight and we will not have practice.

Equipment/Ball Bag Rotating Schedule

Players & Parents:

Coach Edgar has asked me to have the girls rotate the responsibility of bringing the equipment/ball bag to practice each week. I have included the schedule on each practice day on the website calendar, so please check it and mark down your assigned days.

Since Macy and her family provided the equipment last week, she began the rotation. Throughout the season, it will be done alphabetically. For example, Kyana begins this week, Ciera next week, and so on. Savannah, Meredith T. and Mallory will be in charge of the few weeks in the Spring.

Your responsibility includes bringing the equipment/ball bag to practice with fully pumped balls, collecting them at the end of each practice and bringing them back the next day.

We will trade off each Tuesday with the next player. Example - Macy will bring the equipment this Tuesday, and Kyana will collect the equipment/balls and bring home. She will bring them back Wednesday and again collect Wednesday, then next week bring them on Tuesday where Ciera will then follow the rotation.

On Tuesday Sept. 1, I will need everyone to arrive early for practice and meet me at the clubhouse between 7:30 - 7:45 p.m. I will need each girl to sign their player card and I will need a signature from a parent for the Atlanta Cup Player's Release form for the upcoming tournament.

If you can't meet me on Tuesday, let me know and I'll arrange to meet a time on Wednesday.

Practice This Week

Team: I hope everyone had a nice weekend.

We will attempt to start our practices at GSA this Tuesday and Wednesday from 8-930PM.

We will try to do our best with the space we are able to get and continue to build on what we have done so far. Not until the week of August 24th, are we going to be able to know where we are going to practice and establish a regular routine for the season.

I need every player to bring one "pumped" soccer ball and for everyone to wear their training uniform to practice. That is, a white t-shirt if we do not have the training shirts in already, black shorts and black socks. I will work with Kristal and see if there is money left over to purchase more balls for practice.

Please be ready to go ten minutes before practice starts in front of the field house so that we can move to the space that is available and start on time.

Practice at Galloway on Saturday

Hi All!

Just a reminder that the GA DOT will be paving this weekend and may impact getting to the Galloway School:

According to Georgia DOT the work will begin at 9PM Friday, August 7 and continue through 5AM Monday, August 10.

The paving work affects:

- The three inside southbound lanes of I-85,
including the HOV lane, will be closed from Peachtree Street to 10th Street.

- The I-75 southbound HOV lane will be
closed just after the Northside Drive overpass through 10th Street.

If you're coming into the city from Cobb County on I-75 there is another project that may compound your travel time. Expect delays as you approach I-285.

Georgia DOT is closing the exit ramp from I-75 south to I-285 east while work crews repair bridge joints. That closure will be in effect beginning at 8PM Friday through 5AM Monday.

Motorists traveling south on I-75 who wish to exit onto I-285 eastbound will be directed to Exit 259-A which loops around to an access road connecting back to I-285 east.

Georgia DOT urges travelers to call 511 for updated information about the projects and traffic.

Practice Jersey Sizes

This week at camp, Alli showed many of the girls a sample of the "dri-fit" practice jersey (for sizing). The shirt she showed was an adult medium. She can fit in that, but wants to order an adult large. I looked at the adult x-large yesterday, which is just barely longer, but much wider than the large. Please ask your daughters what size they would like to order and get back to me asap so I can place the order for these practice jerseys. They are all adult women's sizes and run small, medium, large, x-large, 2x-large.

In case you forgot, we already collected the money for these upfront so we are all good there.

August Practicing

Hey everyone,

Coach Edgar would like to begin August practicing and training in order to have the players prepared for the Atlanta Cup pre-season tournament Sept. 5-7. With the limited number of fields available (GSA Main fields closed, Crossroads wanted by many teams, etc.), we will be training at the Galloway Athletic Fields, with full access to the soccer balls, goals, equipment and facilities. This is great to have the use of their facilities, to practice on a full field, and another plus...it is free!

Practices for the team will be on the following four Saturdays from 9am-Noon at Galloway fields:

August 8th

August 15th

August 22nd

August 29th

We can set up car-pooling again for these practices and hope/expect that there will not be a conflict for anyone since these are weekend practices. It is important that all players attend.

With the GSA camp next week to help with continued conditioning, this will give time to really focus as a team with Coach Edgar.

Once the GSA fields open up, we may make additions or changes to practicing, but for now please put these times and dates on your calendar

Camp/GSA Camp/August Practices/Stay Healthy

Team Camp: I want to thank everyone again for attending on this 21st Atlanta Girls Soccer Camp (our team camp) and for doing such a great job. On behalf, of Michael Sabatelle (Sabo), I want to thank the families who made the effort of attending as I know how tight everything is right now with the economy. I hope that it was a rewarding experience and that it will get you on the right track for pre-season training. I am excited about what I saw from the players who attended. If you were not able to attend, you are significantly behind, especially if you are new, so please make arrangements to be at all practices in August to catch up and to understand our methods.

GSA Camp: I have already communicated with some parents and with the players at the camp this week to not "over-think" or "take into too much consideration" what happens during the GSA Camp. We have another adult leading the team who will not coach the team the way I would (most of you will not play in the positions you are going to probably play during that camp to begin with) among many other things like game adjustments, etc, etc...Let's take the GSA Camp, as an opportunity to play soccer and to continue to condition...I am concerned I will not be there and do not want to lose the huge progress we made this week! For the girls and parents who attended this week, I am sure this statement makes more sense to you... Please explain it to the others in your own way...I don't know how else to say it...Sorry...

Practices: I have asked our Team Manager, Kristal to send an email with the dates, times, and location of our practices in August. It is extremely important for you to be flexible and to make every great effort to attend every minute. We have issues with the GSA fields being closed and school starting early for some. In addition, I would like to use some equipment to get the girls ready that is not available otherwise. Stay tuned and please cooperate.

I will be talking to the girls about our need to stay healthy time and time again during August as this will determine our ability to compete at our highest level. Please work with me to help you stay healthy so that we can fully enjoy our strengths this year (do the rehab, be safe in your training, good diet, sleep/rest, etc etc).

If you are attending a camp this week, please be safe! Be safe (no tackling or slide tackling or reaching in) during the camp at GSA and/or any other chance you are training or playing. It does not make sense and it is not good soccer.

I am excited to coach this excellent group of young ladies and I hope everyone is looking forward to a rewarding but rigorous pre-season in August.

I will be out of town starting tomorrow until Sunday, August 2nd.

I hope everyone is enjoying a great week and are all getting ready for a nice Holiday Weekend. I wanted to share some information regarding pre-season fitness with all of you since I was asked by several of you about what to do in preparation for our Team Camp. Our Team Camp, July 20-22 will begin our Pre-Season Training Cycle.

In general, after making sure you have experienced some rest between seasons (club or high school), anywhere between 2 weeks to 4 weeks, of doing moderate exercise (very little), so that your body rejuvenates, you then need to also start to build a strong foundation of general fitness to begin a new season so that you are ready to start pre-season and develop in a way that limits your chances of being hurt....

I am attaching a progressive workout book (I shared this one with my club teams last year) that you can look at and use as a reference if you would like. It is a book I used with my high school team, which is less intense and more appropriate for their age (and yours) than the book we used in College. Every year, one learns new and better ways to exercise so if you are using the book, use it as a reference...

I am also pasting below a website "crossfit for kids" that would be a good reference as well for you to use in case you run out of ideas to use to workout and to keep things interesting/refreshing. To build a great foundation of fitness, you need to "cross-train" and condition your body in different ways...This website is ideal for you if you are looking to cross-train and you are not experienced...

The major thing for you to do is to be safe: Drink plenty of liquids, eat appropriately, get plenty of rest, properly warm-up and cool down, and try to exercise outdoors when the heat is less intense...

If you have access to a trainer and/or a conditioning coach, please consult with them first and/or with a doctor.

My expectation is that you will have a strong base of fitness by the time you start our Team Camp, July 20-22.

Remember that just "jogging" a couple of miles, will NOT get you in any way in shape for soccer if you are playing for our team...For that matter, just going to the "gym" to lift weights is also not going to get you in shape for soccer...If you are confused, look at the book and the website to understand what I am talking about.

Once I receive assigned player codes from the GSA Registrar, I will send you information on how you register and pay for the Fall Season for your daughter On-Line. This system is the new &ldquo;state wide mandatory system.

On Tuesday, we will collect fees upfront for uniforms, pre-season tournaments and August training fees. Our team treasurer, Dee DeWitt (daughter Lucy), will collect monthly dues on the first of each month prior to the month of training.

Regular season training will start the first week of August (time/day TBA).

The team has a website that is used for communicating. Our team used this last season as the test site for all the teams at GSA.This has worked very well and we will continue use this for referencing, field locations, announcements, schedules, etc.The address is:www.gsa95phoenixwhitegirls.com

I don't know about you all, but even though I didn't play in the Columbus heat, it sure wore me out (even in the hidden shade)!

I'm not the only one who has mentioned how proud and excited about the State Cup Tournament and the way our girls stepped up and played their hearts out like we all knew they would.

There is a better address for the Columbus State soccer fields...3672 Algonquin Dr., Columbus. I pulled this from the Georgia Soccer website and confirmed on the satellite map.

It is difficult to get to the fields from the University Avenue address. Take University north to Gentian Blvd and turn left (west). .2 miles to Cougar Court left. Courgar Ct deadends into Algonquin, go right a couple of blocks to right turn into field parking lot.

Final Announcements regarding State Cup

Hey everyone,

First, I apologize for the last minute communications regarding State Cup.

Secondly, I'm attaching various documents that I will have hard copies for the girls at tomorrow's practice for them to bring home. If your daughter is not at practice, I will get the information to you personally.

Thirdly, please text me or call me on my cell 678//438-1090 when you arrive in Columbus so I know all team players are accountable for. Since our first game is at 5:15 and check in is at 3pm, I want to make sure everyone has arrived.

Also -- I mentioned uniform combos...we are the away team for the first game so we will wear white jerseys, red shorts, white socks. The second game on Sunday we are home and will wear red jerseys, white shots, red socks. (Yes, those two days I was dazed and confused....) Monday we are home again and wear our good luck stinky All RED uniforms! Again, sorry for the mess up!

Lastly, thank you everyone for your time, patience, and support for everything else that has happened to our team this season- because we all know it has been a little rocky-- but we have survived and are playing in State Cup and our girls are going to give it their best shot for GSA White and who knows what will happen -- hopefully something great! We all know we have a great group of girls and we are all there for the support for them!

Also, I can't even begin to really just give A Very BIG THANK YOU from all of us to Coach Mike for him stepping in for us this season, his understanding, coaching, training, guidance, finding keepers, etc., but mostly his support for our girls and our concerns for what he has done to help us to get through this difficult/transition season! He is truly one of a kind with a big heart for our kids and soccer! What more can you ask for?

Another thank you also goes out for Coach Bryan for stepping in whenever he has been asked and he has been needed---even to the very last minute. We appreciate your helping the team out.

I've been thankful to all of you parents for your support and comments throughout the season and hope that I've addressed your concerns in a timely manor. All of you (in various ways) have helped me transition to the manager of the GSA 95 White Team, which I truly appreciate the support.

They are as follows:

Saturday, May 23 at GSA

4pm - 7pm Field Marshall for Schrader Field

You may split your shift up with someone working 1 1/2 hours if you'd like (or choose to work the entire 3 hour shift yourself).

Since Dee and Debra were first to volunteer in my last email, I will give them first choice of what they would like to do. After that, I'll take volunteers first to email, first to choose. Then assign the remaining spots for parents in from there.

Dear Prospective Parent and Player:

I wanted to take the time to thank you for your continued dedication to GSA and to our team as well as the continued interest of being a member for the upcoming season.

I am very excited about our upcoming 2009 Fall U-15 Soccer Season and want to share with you some general guidelines and expectations I have of our parents and players so that you can be best informed about everything before making the commitment to join the team. After meeting with you last night, I can see how we can form a formidable group that values commitment and the pursuit of excellence.

In general, playing on our team will be the one of the toughest physical and psychological experiences your child will likely have in the upcoming year. My main goal as the coach of the team is for each player to be able to develop both as a person and as a player, which ultimately will allow the team to reach its goals as individuals and as a group. I want this experience to be rewarding and challenging above all.

It is my goal to have another meeting with all of the families that are going to be part of the team this year so that I can discuss all of these expectations in person, and also share my thoughts and goals as it relates to each player once I see them in try-outs and our team camp.

I am also attaching a document with my bio so that you can familiarize yourself with my background and experience a little better.

Super Cup is next weekend. This is one of two big fund raisers for the year. We will need volunteers at the following three venues.

GSA Complex/Parkview

TYSA Granite

TYSA Henderson/Livsey Complex

Stan Allen,Kate Helm and Mark Adamczyk will help organize the volunteers. I will have venue placement of our GSA teams finalized tonight. Parents from each team will be asked to volunteer. More details will follow.

We need volunteers from the older GSA select teams and the younger Academy teams.

The main positions I personally need a commitment for are listed below.

TYSA, Granite Venue Director, should be two people to switch off, only Saturday,Sunday (coordinates volunteers, trash, field marshalls, scoring, game cards etc)

State Cup Game Times Listed

State Cup Game times have been listed. We are listed to play on Woodruff Fields in Columbus. Our games for Saturday 5/30 and Sunday 5/31 are both at 3:15 p.m. So if you choose to cancel/change your hotel arrangements for Friday evening and drive up late Saturday morning, that is your choice. Remember to do so well in advance in order for your credit card not to be charged for that night. The game times for Monday 6/1 are all over the board beginning at 8 a.m. - 5:15 p.m. The actual seeding brackets are not listed just yet, but I'll inform you as soon as it is posted.

Debra and I will try and reserve a place to eat out Saturday night for the team. Those details will follow later.

Hi everyone,

Mike and I are getting some feedbacks on conflicts on the remaining make up games we have set for Sat. 5/16 and Sun. 5/17.

We are aware that Julia and Meredith are out for the Sat. 5/16 game, and Ciera is out for Sun. 5/17 game. Both of these games are extremely important for this team to remain in the Athena "A" bracket because the points for wins and ties are needed desperately!

I need to know asap if anyone else has any conflict because we would need to borrow a player from another GSA team (unfortunately the u13 red girls have make up games both days and are unavailable.) --and we do not have a lot of options open for us for other teams. Please let Mike and myself know asap if we are unaware of anyone else that has not informed us of a conflict that I've not already mentioned above.

Thanks to Coach Mike for being flexible, we were able to work out new arrangements for the Players and Parents to meet with Coach Edgar Flores.

Next Thursday May 14, we will practice from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. with Coach Mike. Following Practice at 8:00, Coach Edgar will hold his player and parent meeting for about 30 minutes.

GSA College Camp for Girls

Established in 2004, the GSA College Camp for Girls is designed to provide access to a wide variety of top college coaches during each session. The camp has been designed to give youth players the unique opportunity of being put into a college level training environment by college coaches. The college coaches in charge of each particular day have personally designed each training session. The youth players will walk away from these training sessions having a clear understanding of what will be expected of them when they join the college ranks.

Camp participants will also get a better understanding of what parts of their game need improvement to meet the college standard. Players who attend the camp will also have a rare opportunity to impress top college coaches in a focused small-group training environment. Finally, players and parents will get to participate in an interactive question and answer session with the coaches at the end of each day.

The Camp will be held in 3 sessions including Friday May 8th from 5:30pm - 8:30pm, Saturday May 9th from 4:00pm - 7:00pm and Sunday May 10th from 9:30am to 12:30pm. All sessions will be held at GSA and players should wear a numbered shirt or jersey. The registration of $150 covers all 3 sessions and players interested should contact Campbell Chapman at: campbell.chapman@gsasoccer.com

Towards the end of January our team manager, Kristal Litchfield, rolled out our new team website. For those that don't know, the website is an experiment and was developed by modifying a website for swim and tennis clubs that my company developed. The website has become the primary communication tool for the team and the time has now come for evaluating its effectiveness so that Coach Mike and I can make the case to roll it out to the entire club next fall.

Site activity to date suggests that the site is actively used and hopefully popular. Since the site was made available to the team, there have been over 1,000 unique daily visits and 9,400 page views!

To confirm what we think we're seeing, Mike and I have developed a survey which I have set up on our site. Please take a couple of minutes to complete it and offer any thoughts you might have for improvements.

Practice time has changed for Thursday 4/30 and Tuesday 5/5 and will be held from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Coach Campbell will be running practice on Miller Field in Coach Mike's absence. Regular practice time will resume on Thursday 5/7 when Coach Mike returns. The tentative scrimmage scheduled for Sunday 5/3 has now been cancelled.

FC Atlanta Blackhawks Launch
Hosts the England Schools Football Association Under 18 National Team

ATLANTA, GA - The FC Atlanta Blackhawks are bringing PDL soccer back to Atlanta in 2009. As the highest level of men's soccer currently available in the State of Georgia, the Blackhawks organization is committed to contributing to the continued growth of the sport by providing affordable, family entertainment to all soccer enthusiasts. The team begins league play in May.
"With the number of quality college players coming out of the state of Georgia every year, a PDL team is a necessary part of the soccer landscape in this state. Our team will be a preview of the type of teams that they could put together if schools like UGA or Georgia Tech offered men's NCAA Division I soccer," stated Massoud Roushandel, Head Coach and Executive Director of the Blackhawks.

As a prelude to their home opener on Thursday, May 14th, the Blackhawks will play host to the ESFA Under 18 National Team. The Blackhawks have scheduled two exhibition games for the ESFA National Team. They will play Friday, May 1st against Atlanta FC (the NPSL Southeast Champions) at Riverwood High School in Sandy Springs. Kick off is at 8:00 pm. The ESFA will wrap up their tour with a game against the FC Atlanta Blackhawks on Sunday, May 3rd at Parkview High School in Lilburn. Kick-off is at 4:00 pm.

During the regular season, the Blackhawks will compete in the Southeast Division of the PDL along with the Baton Rouge Capitols, the Bradenton Academics, the Central Florida Kraze, the Mississippi Brilla, the Nashville Metros, the New Orleans Jesters and the Panama City Pirates.
The Blackhawks will host home games at the Alpharetta High School for their inaugural 2009 season. Alpharetta High School is conveniently located just one mile off of Georgia 400 at exit 10/Old Milton Parkway. The stadium boasts a seating capacity of 4000 and features a sprint turf field measuring 120 yards long by 68 yards wide.

The home opener is scheduled for Thursday night May 14th when the Blackhawks will host the Nashville Metros. The Blackhawks are currently in the process of finalizing promotions, give-aways and interactive half-time activities that are sure to be crowd pleasers. Local recording artist Christina Isabella will sing the national anthem. Special half-time activities are also planned, along with a post game reception to be held at Jeffrey's Sports Grill.
The first 100 fans to attend the Blackhawks home opener will also receive an inaugural Atlanta Blackhawks promotional t-shirt.

CANCELLED GAME FOR SAT. 3/28 VS. NASA

I just received notice that the GSA fields will not be open all weekend and our home game tomorrow has now been cancelled.

Again, we will still have practice at the Soccer Academy from 12:45 - 2:30 p.m.

If Game is Rained Out, Soccer Academy Practice

Happy Rainy Friday Everyone!

The weather isn't looking in our favor for tomorrows home game vs. NASA at 1:30. If the fields are closed and our game is indeed rained out, we will have practice at the Soccer Acedemy in Lilburn from 12:45 - 2:30 p.m.

I will post the message on the team website and send out a calling post message tomorrow morning to confirm everything.

If we do play, just a reminder to be at the fields by 12:30 p.m. We are wearing Red Jerseys, White Shorts, Red Socks and be prepared with your other uniforms as well as gear for the wet conditions.

Practice Jerseys

Hey everyone,

A couple of families asked about getting additional practice jerseys for some that are lost and just to have more, as well as trying to get some for our new players. I am sending this email out to you all to poll to see if we have enough interested players who are in need of these. We've been quoted for $27/shirt, but the price may drop depending on how many shirts we'd need to order.

Please let me know if you are interested in ordering a jersey (the same ones the girls are wearing now). I've used the RSVP format (and am testing my first time with this feature) so we can all see what the status is on this and to see if we have enough interested to order and/or reduce the expense.

Practice Thursday evening 3/26 will be held indoors at the Soccer Academy in Lilburn from 6:15 p.m - 7:30 p.m. Please make every effort to arrive on time.

FYI: Please keep Saturday available for practice indoors in case our game is rained out. We are looking into our options for the weekend to practice somewhere indoors and will notify you pending the possibility the game is rained out. Keep checking the team website and your emails for updates.
